Sunshine With A Milder Afternoon

Skies are sunny today and it will be a notch milder this afternoon. That theming continues on Wednesday with another step in the milder direction. Thursday will be a noticeably cooler day, but rebounding again for Friday and Saturday. Quiet weather will continue through Saturday, but things get more complicated for Sunday with rainfall potential returning to the region.

Thanks!
We are so pleased by the overwhelmingly positive response to the Revamped RaysWeather. We continue to work out a few kinks in the system, but kinks are usual for an overhaul of this magnitude. Forecast Discussion

After a cold start, temperatures rebound this afternoon to near-normal for mid-December. Wednesday will be even milder with mostly sunny skies.

A backdoor cold front will slip south of the state Wednesday night heralding a setback in the temperature regime on Thursday. Expect a noticeably cooler day, but with full sunshine.

Temperatures rebound again Friday and Saturday as chilly high pressure heads to the Mid-Atlantic coast.

What happens next is complex and interesting. Low pressure will develop in the eastern Gulf of Mexico on Saturday, track across the Florida Peninsula, and then make a move northward off the Southeast U.S. coast as it continues to deepen.

Present indications suggest this will get close enough to deliver a period of rain for Sunday into early Monday. Amounts and timing are uncertain, but for now, we’ve beefed-up the rain wording for the second half of the weekend.
